“SPIDAcalc has given REMC more confidence in our pole designs. The user interface is top-notch, easy to use, and it saves our stakers time and effort when evaluating the designs. SPIDA has allowed us to “right-size” the equipment we design for our poles, which in turn saves the co-op money.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my SPIDA support login the same as my account portal login?

Your email address will be the same, but your passwords may be different depending on what you set them to. You may wish to make your password for the Support Site and the SPIDA Account Portal the same to avoid confusion upon trying to log in. (However, you should not use the same password for SPIDA that you use for sites that store sensitive information about you.)

How much is a SPIDAcalc subscription license?

A 12-month license of SPIDAcalc is $2,000 USD. Prices may vary per region. While there are several types of licensing available, a common choice is the 12-month practitioner license offered through Virtuosity, Bentley’s eCommerce store. When you purchase through Virtuosity, you get a Virtuoso Subscription. This means you get the software and “Key” (token) to redeem for self-paced training.

Is there support available for SPIDAcalc, in the event I run into an issue with the software?

Yes, once your order has been fulfilled, you will be granted access to the support site which will allow you to submit help tickets and to access available support articles and videos.

How can I learn SPIDAcalc for free?

You can learn about SPIDAcalc for free by watching available tutorial videos and articles. Additionally, you will be invited to participate in our free monthly webinars learning series, SPIDA Lunch & Learns, which covers a variety of instructional topics including use of SPIDAcalc.

Is there a trial version of SPIDAcalc?

We offer a Free 30-Day Trial of SPIDAcalc. To learn more and request a trial, please fill out this form.

What safety codes does SPIDAcalc support?

SPIDAcalc contains preconfigured options for the NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), and GO95 (General Order 95) Safety Codes. Users can also define their own loading scenarios by specifying their own weather criteria and load factors.

How do I configure SPIDAcalc to align with how I design and build my system? What options are available to me?

The structures and selections available in SPIDAcalc are configured and stored in your client file (engineering library). You use the SPIDA Client Editor to add, remove, or modify structures in the client file. If you are an engineering practitioner, you can configure as many client files as needed in support of client needs. If you are an owner/operator, Bentley provides client file configuration as an optional service.
